Note on tracking Sun-Earth connection event ICME Event: 2013/03/20 Observer: Suman Dhakal on 2019/05 (part 1); 1. ICME 1.1. Catalog # Identified in ICME catalogs: Richardson & Can List RC catalog: Disturbance start time: 2013/03/20 17:00 UT Ejecta start time: 2013/03/20 18:00 UT Ejecta End time: 2013/03/20 22:00 UT dv = 110 km/s, v = 520 km/s, vmax= 640 km/s MC index: 1 Dst: -39 nT Suggested source CME: V_transit: km/s 1.2. SW Plots Overall ICME quality index: 3 SW type: EJ+SH ICME signatures: Bmax: 9.9 nT Smoothly changing Bz. Other ICME signatures: decreasing velocity, low density, low proton temperature, and low plasma beta Peculiar behavior: Density was relatively high. proton temperature and plasma beta jumped in the middle. Search Window: Upper bound: Disturbance speed 520 km/s: 80 hrs: Lower bound: Transit speed < 700 km/s: 60 hrs < 2. CME 2.1. A. Candidate A A.1. LASCO: #CME 2013/03/15 at 07:12 UT, halo (from CDAW) Major CME moving with 1063 km/s A.2. STEREO: Direction of CME sugeest that it was moving front side of the Sun. Halo CME in COR2-A. A.3. AIA and GOES corresponding to X class flare, peaked at 2013/03/15 06:58 UT Eruption from decaying AR 11692, located ~ N10E10. same region as of candidate A. A.4. Comment: unlikely the source, as the velocity was very high. 2.2. B. Candidate B B.1. LASCO: #CME 2013/03/16 at 14:48 UT, partial halo (from CDAW) Major CME moving with 786 km/s B.2. STEREO: Direction of CME sugeest that it was moving front side of the Sun. B.3. AIA and GOES corresponding to B class flare, peaked at 2013/03/16 14:36 UT. Filament eruption around N30 W45. B.4. Comment: unlikely the source, as the velocity was very high and the direction is toward northern pole. 2.2. C. Candidate C C.1. LASCO: #CME 2013/03/17 at 23:39 UT, partial halo (from CDAW, observed in C3) Major CME moving with 399 km/s. data gap in C2 C.2. STEREO: Direction of CME sugeest that it was moving front side of the Sun. Major partial halo CME in both COR2-A and COR2-B. It started around 16:00 UT in STEREO. C.3. AIA and GOES Very big filament eruption around 13:30 UT, not associated with any AR. C.4. Comment: Likely the source, considering the eruption of huge magnetic structure. 3. Other Comments Candidate C is the possible source of disturbance on 2013/03/20, in C2 CME was observed at 15:58 (seeds C2). 4. Summary SW index 3 Source index 1 Overall index 3.
